2017 NRC Conference

THE CONFERENCE

Each year, the NRC hosts its conference where all stakeholders of the railroad construction and maintenance industry are encouraged to attend. The conference typically encompasses more than 1,000 attendees, 150 exhibitors, and 25,000 square-feet of meeting space with a unique program agenda lined up with chief engineers from the major freight railroads and other key speakers covering up-to-date topics of importance to the rail industry.

The conference will be held at the Boca Raton Resort & Club in Boca Raton, Florida.  The NRC room block at this hotel is now full. Please book at the suggested overflow hotel listed below.

FEDERAL RAILROAD ADMINISTRATION SEMINAR
"Overview of FRA Part 243 Minimum Training Standards Final Rule" 

 
What: Rob Castiglione, Staff Director of Human Performance Program in the Office of Railroad Safety at FRA, will provide information on this final rule - published on November 7, 2014 - for training requirements for all railroad employees and contractors who perform safety related work. Topics include: the history of the rule; Part 243 requirements; the timeline with important dates; the role of associations like NRC; and next steps.

FEDERAL RAILROAD ADMINISTRATION DRUG & ALCOHOL RULE SEMINAR
"Overview of FRA Part 219 Drug & Alcohol Regulation for Maintenance-of-Way Workers Final Rule" 

 
What: Jerry Powers, Staff Director of the Drug & Alcohol Program in the Office of Railroad Safety at FRA, will provide information on this final rule, published on June 10, 2016. The rule expands the scope of FRA's alcohol and drug regulations to cover employees (including contractors) who perform railroad maintenance-of-way activities as required by section 412 of the Rail Safety Improvement Act of 2008. Topics include: the history of the rule; Part 219 requirements; the timeline with important dates; the role of associations like NRC; and next steps.

GOLF TOURNAMENT

NRC's 2017 Golf Tournament will be held on Tuesday, January 10th at the Jacaranda Golf Club (9200 W Broward Blvd, Plantation, FL 33324), located approximately 26 miles from the Boca Raton Resort & Club. Group transportation will be available, leaving the hotel at 11:00 am. Golfers may also arrange their own transportation. Golfers should plan to arrive at the course by 11:40am.

Golf play will begin at 12:00 pm with a shotgun start. The Tournament format is a four-person scramble, allowing players with varying ability the opportunity to play and have a great time. A box lunch will be provided prior to the Tournament. The Golf Shop offers rental clubs at $55/set. The Tournament registration fee includes carts, green fees, lunch and refreshments, driving range, putting green and prizes.

FISHING TOURNAMENT

The NRC 2017 Fishing Tournament will be held at the Boca Raton Marina in Boca Raton, FL on Tuesday, January 10th from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Awards will be presented on the docks at 5:00pm immediately following the tournament.

Awards will be given in multiple categories: Top Overall Angler, Top Overall Boat, Largest Fish, Most Unusual Catch, and Hard Luck.

Fishing boats that hold 6 people each will be arranged for participants. The boats will come with a captain and staff who will provide all of the fishing tackle, bait, rods, reels, licenses and instruction required. The Tournament registration fee also includes snacks and beverages on the boat.
