Railroad Rehabilitation & Improvement Financing (RRIF) Loan Program

This page has been assembled to provide an overview of the RRIF loan program.

RRIF is a $35 billion dollar federal credit program that railroads, rail shippers, and public entities may access for rail-related capital investment. RRIF has funded projects ranging from as small as $600,000 shortline investments up to very large freight rail and passenger rail projects costing hundreds of millions of dollars.
